HTC surround T8788 Mobile Phone
HTC announced five handsets at the Microsoft Windows Phone 7 launch event and HTC Surround is one of them. The phone is available on AT&T and features an unique slide-out speaker with Dolby Mobile and SRS sound enhancement. Lets have a look at some of the key features of the cell phone,

Design:
The phone has a unique design and offers stylish looks. It measures 119.7 x 61.5 x 13 mm and weighs 165 grams which is quite heavy compared to some of the other smartphones in the market. The reason for the added weight is the large speakers which are hidden behind the screen and can slide out to the left of the phone. A kickstand is also provided for resting the phone while watching movies, videos or listening music.

Display:
HTC 7 Surround offers a 3.8 inches capacitive touchscreen display which has a resolution of 480 X 800 pixels and supports upto 16 millions colors. The display is clear and vibrant but Samsung's Super AMOLED touchscreens are way better. An accelerometer sensor is provided for switching the user interface to portrait or landscape mode automatically and a proximity sensor for automatically turning off the display.

Processing speed and other features:
HTC 7 Surround supports quad-band GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 networks, tri-band HSDPA 850 / 1900 / 2100 networks and is capable of global roaming. It is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon QSD8250 1 GHz processor and features Microsoft's Windows Phone 7 operating system. It also has 448 MB RAM / 512 MB ROM and a mammoth internal memory of 16 GB. However, it doesn't have a memory card slot.

Multimedia:

Multimedia features are the USP of this handset. Users can listen to music and watch videos using the MP3/WAV/WMA/eAAC+ music player and MP4/WMV/H.264/H.263 video player respectively. A 3.5 mm audio jack is also provided at the top of the phone which allows you to plug-in your favorite headsets. Streaming content is also supported.

Applications:

Since it runs on Microsoft's OS, it is not surprising that the HTC Surround is preloaded with Microsoft apps. Microsoft's Bing Maps allows you to track your location and view detailed maps from all around the world. For office work, MS Office application is provided. Other applications include digital compass, calculator, voice memo, calender, organizer, Facebook and twitter integration and much more. AT&T branded applications like AT&T Navigator, AT&T Radio, and AT&T U-verse Mobile are also part of the package.
